Redcar Racecourse: Yorkshire's Seaside Flat Track
Redcar Racecourse has been part of North Yorkshire’s sporting landscape since its current site opened in 1872, with origins on the sands of Redcar beach stretching back to the early 18th century. The flat-only course runs from April to November, set alongside the North Sea with a relaxed, family-friendly atmosphere.
Its signature race is the Two-Year-Old Trophy, introduced in 1989, alongside the Zetland Gold Cup and the Guisborough Stakes. Redcar was also a pioneer in British racing, being the first course to introduce furlong posts, closed-circuit television and a timing clock.
