The Racecourses at Newmarket

Set in stunning Suffolk countryside yet only 60 miles from London, Newmarket has been home to horseracing since the 17th century when it staged the first ever official race, the Town Plate.

A day out at Newmarket races is special as this is the true home of the sport of kings. The Rowley Mile Course is the grand stage, host to some of the best racing in the world during the spring and autumn months, whilst the July course is a heart stirring place of pure English countryside, garden party atmosphere and top entertainment at the height of summer.

Newmarket Rowley Mile Course

The Rowley Mile is host to some of the best racing in the world. At the forefront are two classics – The 1000 and 2000 Guineas which both feature in May.

With the three-day Cambridgeshire Meeting taking place in late September, featuring the Cheveley Park and Shadwell Middle Park Stakes and the superlative Cambridgeshire Handicap itself – a cavalry charge of over 30 horses in a fiercely competitive handicap up the famous Rowley Mile track.

The Rowley Mile Course offers a great range of Hospitality options available between April & May then from September to November, which include:

  • The Millennium Grandstand Private Boxes
  • The Champions Gallery Restaurant
  • Dine & View Trackside for the Guineas Festival
  • Chez Roux for the Guineas Festival

Newmarket July Course

The July Course resides alongside the National Stud on the approach to the town and is home to all Newmarket’s summer race meetings.

The July course provides the perfect setting for a fantastic day’s racing or the ever-popular Newmarket Nights Music events, thanks to its unique rustic charm. Open air bars, the sun dappling through the trees and the thatched roofed buildings make up the character of this distinctive and much loved course.
