Wetherby Racecourse has been staging National Hunt racing on the outskirts of the market town of Wetherby since 1891. The highlight of the season is the Grade 2 Charlie Hall Chase in late October or November — named in memory of local trainer Charlie Hall and first run in 1969, which has been won by Gold Cup heroes including Burrough Hill Lad and See More Business. The Christmas Meeting in late December, featuring the Castleford Chase, is another popular fixture. Wetherby is known for its relaxed atmosphere, themed racedays and strong Yorkshire following.
